Cyclo Cross

January 2005

We seem to have lost a year somewhere - its nearly two years since the last update.

Steve Avery and the younger members of the team rode the last cross of the season at Oxford School. There were nine riders in the under 12's and four of them were Mid Oxon,  Angela Avery, Rio Avery, Joshua Cox and Jack Osbury,

Angela was first girl in the Wessex League as well. We'll have a picture of her with her medal shortly..

April 2003

Well the cross season went very well for all involved, in the under 12s Mat Osbury's boy (sorry don't know his name)  rode very well in a couple at Oxford school finishing in the top half of the field. Angela rode very well as usual and finished second overall in the Wessex League missing the title by 5 points, Holly finished third another 8 points behind. In Rio's first season on a bike let alone racing managed to finish with a hand full of points and there were about a dozen boys behind her.

The next cross adventure wont be till August at Mildenhall, I'll try and keep you in contact with all that happens.

March 2003

Well Spring's almost on us and the cyclo-cross season is well and truly over and what an eventful one it was !

I managed to perform to my usual standard of finishing in the last dozen or so in most of the cross's, occasionally scraping into the top twenty five.

Our other senior cross rider Neil Johnson did his usual one race season (the last race) where, in his words, he struggled round in thirtieth place. There are unconfirmed reports that Neill has been training hard and hopes to do some time trialling this year - although this is unconfirmed and might actually be the imagination of the editor !! Well come on somebody has to do some Timetrialling. (Ed)

All the other Cyclo-Cross riders all appeared in the under 12's. Holly, Angela and Rio Avery all did the local cross's and performed very well. Angela managed 2nd in the Wessex League girls, Holly was 4th and Rio was 5th. Angela even managed to be 7th overall. The other rider to appear in the results was Matthew Osbury's boy (whose name we have mislaid), who was up quite high in the results.
