Rider Profile

Ian Watson

A relative newcomer to the Mid-Oxon club and to cycling in general.  An ex-runner whose knees would no longer hold the weight and pounding demanded and who is enjoying cycling immensely.  Still trying to make sure I don't demonstrate complete novice tendencies through the following:

Avoiding moving rapidly from the vertical to the horizontal whilst clipped in at junctions...
Needing to change an inner tube without pathetically looking for help from all and sundry...
Knowing a compact from a triple and I'm talking gears here not ladies make up or liqueurs!
Taking a drink whilst on the move without sending the water bottle scattering down the hill...
Experiencing a "bonk" and realising its not quite as much fun in a cycling context ...
Naively agreeing to be part of a chain gang at the peak of the TT season...
Expecting a Mid-Oxon shirt to arrive this side of the millennium...
Automatically selecting the "granny ring" at the merest hint of a gradient...
