Time Trial Courses

The object of this page, is to provide information to those people who are new to Time Trialling. It will  describe where the courses are, where they go, and what to expect. I do intend to add small pictures of the roads used to enable the viewer to see the general direction of the course. This may assist the keener ride to evalute how the direction of the wind will affect the course, and in some cases which wheels would be the best choice. We will start primarily with the courses on which we promote events.

Courses are numbered by District, we are part of the West London District. There are obviously a set of rules issued by the LWDC (London West District Committee) with regard to how events should be run and how riders should behave, these are set out below. Additionally, we, the Mid Oxon CRT, require all riders to use a rear LED light for all evening events, these are now small enough that there is no weight or aerodynamic disadvantage, and they do assist in being spotted by other road users.

District Regulations applicable to all events

Prohibition of U-turns
LWDC 3 U-turns are not permitted within sight of the start or finish points nor on the course. Offenders are liable to disqualification and will be reported to the London West District Committee. This may lead to disciplinary action being taken against the rider.

Restriction of Parking at the Start and Finish

LWDC 4 No vehicles, except those of the timekeepers’, shall be parked at the start or finish.

Reporting of breaches of Local Regulations
LWDC 5 All breaches of Local Regulations shall be reported in writing to the London West District Secretary.

Use of Turbo Trainers
LWDC 7 Turbo Trainers are not to be used at morning events within 100 yards of residential accommodation.

Course Epithets
All Open Event courses (type A events) are prefixed 'H' to denote the District. This is followed by the distance of the course. The number following the slash indicates the area within the District in which the course is situated.

All Club Event courses (type B events)
are prefixed 'HCC', (we denote these as merely CC) denoting the District and the fact that it is a Club Course. The number following the slash refers to the code allocated to the course and the distances are not arranged in any particular order.
The prefix for Hill Climb courses do not indicate their use for either type of event
